You can check your spelling and grammar in Google Docs, then accept or ignore the corrections.Suggestions are based on your text and don't represent Google's views.
Spelling and grammar suggestions are available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, andItalian.
Check spelling & grammar
You can check your spelling and grammar, then accept or ignore the corrections.
- Open a document in Google Docs.
- In the top left, click Spelling and grammar check
. A box will open in the top right corner. - To use a suggestion, click Change.
- To ignore a suggestion, click Ignore.
- To accept or ignore all suggestions, click More Accept all or Ignore all.

Accept all or Ignore all.If you have spelling and grammar suggestions turned on, misspelled words are underlined in red, and grammar suggestions are underlined in blue. Learn how to turnsuggestions on or off.
To quickly accept or ignore the corrections:
- Press Tabto accept the suggestion.
- Right-click the red or blue underline.
- To accept the suggestion, click the edited word.
- To ignore the suggestion, clickIgnore.
- To report an incorrect suggestion, click Feedback on suggestion.
Add a word to your personal spelling suggestions dictionary
You can add words to your personal dictionary so Docs doesn't identify them as misspelled.
- Open a document in Google Docs.
- At the top, go to ToolsSpelling and grammarPersonal dictionary.
- Enter a word.
- ClickAdd.
You can also add words to your personal dictionary after they’re marked as misspelled.
- Open a document in Google Docs.
- Right-click the word that's underlined in red.
- Click Add to personal dictionary.
Remove a word from your personal dictionary
You can remove a word that you've added to your personal dictionary.
- Open the document in Google Docs.
- At the top, go to ToolsSpelling and grammarPersonal dictionary.
- Find the word you want to remove.
- To the right of the word, click Delete.
