Overview
Drivers are how computers communicate with audio and MIDI devices. Some devices are considered class-compliant and don’t require additional driver installation. However, many devices will need an additional driver in order to use all of their features. To download software drivers for your audio interface or MIDI device, visit their manufacturer’s page below to find any available driver downloads. Once downloaded, launch the driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions.
For good measure, we recommend to shut everything off and make sure your device is connected and powered on before restarting your computer. Visit our Resolving Audio Interface Issues on PC (Windows) & Mac (macOS) articles for more connectivity solutions.

Antelope
Antelope Thunderbolt and USB Audio drivers are required to connect your audio interface to your computer. Be sure to read their system requirements and additional notes to make sure your device is compatible.
Apogee
Apogee audio interfaces are not class-compliant and need additional software to run properly on your machine. Visit their website to download the audio driver for your interface. If your device isn’t listed, it’s more than likely a legacy product. In that case, please visit their Legacy Product Support page.
Audient
If you own an Audient audio interface, you can visit their Help Desk website to download the drivers for your device. Some Audient interfaces have firmware that will need to be updated from time to time, as well, so be sure to follow their download instructions.
Avid
Avid offers a wealth of audio interfaces and hardware, all of which require specific audio driver software. Depending on which device you are using, you’ll need to download and install the right version for your system for full compatibility. Be sure to read through the system notes and make sure you’re downloading the correct driver. Any Legacy device drivers can be found in the Additional Downloads section.
Behringer
While some Behringer audio interfaces are class-compliant (no additional audio driver software necessary), others will require either their proprietary driver or ASIO4ALL. To find your audio interface, navigate to the sidebar, click Computer Audio and select Interfaces. Please take note of the driver version and which OS version it’s for before downloading. Be sure to check out our guide to learn more about how to use ASIO4ALL.
Focusrite
The Focusrite Control driver software is required to connect Clarett and Saffire audio interfaces to your computer. If your interface is class compliant, the driver is not required and the device will work once connected.
Past generations like the Saffire range use the Saffire Mix Control software instead, but make sure it’s compatible with your computer before installing.
IK Multimedia
With the exception of the AXE I/O, IK Multimedia interfaces are class-compliant on Mac, but Windows users will need to use the third-party driver ASIO4ALL. Be sure to check your user manual for detailed driver information. Check out our guide to learn more about how to use ASIO4ALL.
Line 6
Line 6 audio interface drivers can be downloaded through the Line 6 web page. You can also use the Line 6 Monkey software, which will also update the interface firmware, as well. Just go to the product web page, then select your product, which software you want to download, and select your OS.

MOTU
MOTU audio devices require both drivers, as well as firmware, in order to work properly with your computer. Visit the MOTU interface driver and interface firmware pages to download the latest version for your system.
Native Instruments
Most Native Instruments audio hardware will require drivers. You will also need to update your firmware periodically. All you need to do is go to Native Instrument’s download page and browse the latest versions available. If your OS icon (Apple or Windows) isn’t listed, this means your audio interface is class-compliant. Click Info to view more details on system compatibility and installation instructions.

Every PreSonus interface uses the Universal Control app to update the drivers. If you have a PreSonus account and have registered your device, you can download the latest version from your account page. You can also visit the interface download page to download Universal Control for your audio interface.
RME
RME gives you the choice of downloading the driver software from either the audio interface’s product page or from the driver download support page. You can also download the flash (firmware) file from the page, as well. If by any chance you need to get an older driver (when using incompatible OS for example), click Driver Archive.
Roland
With the exception of Roland Rubix audio interfaces, which are class-compliant on Mac, all Roland devices will use specific audio drivers for Windows and Mac systems. Visit Roland’s support page to download your driver software. Before downloading, be sure to uninstall any previous version of the Roland driver you currently have on your computer.
Steinberg
The Yamaha Steinberg driver is necessary for your audio interface to function properly on your computer. All you need to do is click the dropdown box in the Downloads Hardware section and choose your audio interface. The installer also includes additional components such as the Basic FX Suite as well as standalone applications. If you only need to download the driver, though, just select Yamaha Steinberg USB Driver.
- The USB driver is not compatible with the Steinberg AXR4T, which is a Thunderbolt device.
TASCAM
When using a TASCAM interface, you will need to download its Software Panel app to install the driver. The Software Panel will also show you which firmware version is currently installed on your hardware. You can download both the app and firmware files from TASCAM’s support page.
TC Electronic
If you need to download the driver for your TC Electronic interface, you can visit the Download Center and select your device. Please take note that TC Electronic audio interfaces have been discontinued, so the drivers available may be incompatible with newer systems.
Universal Audio
All Universal Audio audio interfaces require the use of the UAD software in order to run on your machine. To access the download, you log in or create a Universal Audio account and register your device first. Once registered, visit the UAD download page.
Zoom
All Zoom audio interfaces require additional drivers to run correctly on Windows-based systems. With the exception of the Zoom UAC series audio interfaces, all other Zoom devices are class-compliant on Mac. Check out their Support + Download page, then click Production + Recording to get the drivers for your interface.
