Order a framed Birthday Number One record

The charts shown above have been compiled by Billboard which has produced the USA "Hot 100" Singles Chart for the music industry since July 1958. You can visit the Billboard website here.

Billboard actually began publishing a weekly music chart in their magazine in July 1940 although these charts are not shown on the current Billboard website. We have used these earlier charts in the list above. From 1940, the Billboard chart showed the "National Best Selling Retail Records". In 1955 a "Top 100" chart was introduced alongside the "Best Sellers in Stores" list which incorporated the number of times songs were played on jukeboxes and on the radio. However we have continued to use the chart based on record sales alone in the list above, until dates from July 1958 when the "Hot 100" chart began.

Please note that most websites using Billboard chart information show music charts using a week ending date, which is also the official issue date of the Billboard magazine. The publication date has been a Sunday for most of its lifetime but was a Tuesday between 1958 and 1961. This has always been a few days after the magazine actually appeared on news stands. However, there are several popular but unofficial websites which confuse this for a week commencing date. This can prove confusing if you are trying to identify a Number One record on a specific day.
