Although there are sure to be minor variations sprinkled throughout the climactic moments of the narrative, these are the core variations to watch out for.

What is Considered the True Ending in The Quarry

In short, there is no one true ending in The Quarry, as the game encourages you to test different choices and decisions throughout alternate playthroughs as you attempt to seek out as many of the 186 ending variations as possible.

The community also widely agrees that there is no bad or good ending to The Quarry. This is due to the simple fact that the ending is entirely subjective, as it's based upon whether or not you deemed your choices the right or wrong decisions to make in each scenario.

Now, with that said, there is an argument to be had that one ending could be considered the most satisfying, based on length, overall story conclusion, and trophy achievements.

It's worth noting that the following ending recommendation involves failing set QTEs sequences to ensure that Laura, Ryan, Emma, and Kaitlyn are infected. As a result of their infection, it will allow for unique scenarios to take place, while also ensuring that all nine counselors survive, including both Travis and Caleb.

Here are the key choices and endings you'll want to achieve for the best possible outcome:

  • Find All Evidence (The Teens Are Freed of All Charges - Revealed via Newspapers in the Ending Credits)
    • How to Find All 10 Pieces of Evidence
  • Ryan Stops Laura From Shooting Nick in the Cage (Nick Survives the Night)
    • Chapter 8 - Abandoned Mine and Hackett House Basem*nt
  • Max Decides to Stay on The Island (Max Survives the Night)
    • Chapter 10 - The Island, The Lodge, Hackett's Woods, and Silas' Den
  • Jacob Admits to Breaking the Van to Emma (Emma refuses to forgive Jacob)

  • Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Caleb Survive the Night (Caleb Survives the Night)
    • Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Caleb Survive the Lodge - The Curse is Lifted
  • White Wolf: Laura, Travis, and Ryan Kill Silas (The Curse is Broken)
    • Step One: Above the Law: Travis and Laura Agree to Work Together to Find Silas
    • Step Two: White Wolf Ending: Laura Kills Silas and Both Travis and Ryan Survive

Do note, that the ending above is entirely personal opinion and may not be considered the best outcome by all players.

Above the Law: Travis and Laura Agree to Work Together to Find Silas

When it comes to Golden Paths and the main ending intended by the developer, it's hard to argue against the White Wolf ending, as it seemly meets all the main criteria points and neatly wraps up the story with little to no questions remaining.

To ensure that the White Wolf (Silas) ending is achieved, you'll first need to unlock the Above the Law achievement, which requires a few major choices to be made during the following chapters:

  • Chapter 3 (Optional but provides character immunity in Chapter 10)
  • Chapter 7
  • Chapter 9

Without making these critical decisions during the chapters above, Laura will not gain Travis' trust, and he will fail to share crucial details about Silas' backstory. However, should you successfully gain Travis' trust, he will share how Chris was not the first Hackett family member to be bitten. Instead, it will be revealed that it began with Caleb and Kaylee, who both happened to be bitten when trying to free Silas six years ago.

So, to have Travis and Laura work together, you'll need to follow the steps listed below to unlock the Above the Law path and achievement.

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 3) Ryan Shoots Bobby When Rescuing NickThis choice is completely optional; however, if you're looking to try out the multiple variations of the 'good' ending it is recommended as it unlocks the ability to give either Ryan or Laura immunity from dying in the final scene.

When trying to save Nick, have Ryan shoot Bobby. Upon doing so, Bobby will let go of Nick and flee the scene, but not before dropping a strange vial filled with Blood. This will be key to saving a life in Chapter 10.

(Chapter 7) Laura Loosens the Brick in her CellWhen exploring Laura's cell in Chapter 7, investigate the brick that's by the bed. With the potential to loosen the brick, climb onto the bed, grab the spoon found on the windowsill, and then use it to loosen the brick from the wall.
(Chapter 7) Laura Grabs the Syringe and Hides ItFollowing Laura's incident with Max, you'll be free to explore the police station. On the top floor, head into the last office, and you'll find a locker that can be inspected.

Inside, Laura will find a syringe that can be used to tranquilize Travis, much like he did to her in the Prologue. Before resting, interact with the brick one final time to hide the syringe from Travis, as he will later pat you down.

(Chapter 7) Laura Does Not Take Travis' GunWhen asked to read the limerick on the wall, Laura will have a small opportunity to grab Travis' gun while his back is turned. Do not take Travis' gun.
(Chapter 7) Laura Fakes Being Sick and Drugs TravisAs the game progresses, Laura will eventually devise a plan with Max to escape. When the time comes, Laura will be curled up on the floor in pain, faking being sick.

As Travis nears, have Laura use the syringe on him by successfully completing the QTE. When Travis passes out, Laura and Max will escape, but not before grabbing some silver bullets.

(Chapter 9) Laura Shoots Constance in The StruggleWhen Constance turns off the light in the room and warns Laura that she can't shoot what she can't see, she'll approach Laura in the dark and grab ahold of the shotgun.

During this battle for the weapon, quickly press the action button. As the struggle escalates, Laura will accidentally shoot and kill Constance.

(Chapter 9) Ryan Leaves the Knife In After Being StabbedRyan won't remove the knife, which will help prevent him from bleeding out as he escapes.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Refuses to Stab BobbyWhen Ryan runs into Bobby, he'll have the option to stab him through an interruption if the knife is still lodged into his side. Do not press any buttons and let the scene play out. After refusing to stab Bobby, he'll pull the knife from Ryan's side, and Laura will come to his rescue.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Agrees to be BittenWhen Ryan's offers the option of becoming infected to heal his wound, accept Laura's offer to be bitten. This will help ensure you're one step closer to the 'good' ending with Silas.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Shoots ChrisAfter dropping through the floor with werewolf Chris, Bobby will be knocked out as he is pushed into the wall. Ryan will then get the opportunity to shoot werewolf Chris, killing him instantly.
(Chapter 9) Travis and Laura Agree to Work TogetherAfter killing Chris, Laura's infection will be cured, and she'll thank Travis for not killing her with the silver-backed mirror shard. However, things aren't over as Chris wasn't the first werewolf; instead, Caleb was first bitten, followed by Kaylee and then Chris.

To help end things, respond suspiciously, and Laura will eventually agree to help Travis track down Silas and break the curse once and for all.

Now that you know how to achieve Travis and Laura working together, here are the five potential variations you can achieve when playing through the Silas ending.

  • Laura Kills Silas and Both Travis and Ryan Survive - The Curse is Lifted
  • Laura Hesitates and Kills Travis and Silas - The Curse is Lifted
  • Laura Refuses to Kill Silas - The Curse Remains
  • Laura Kills Silas and Dies to the Car Crash - The Curse is Lifted
  • Nobody Survives the Car Crash and Silas Lives - The Curse Remains

White Wolf Ending: Laura Kills Silas and Both Travis and Ryan Survive - The Curse is Lifted

This ending has all three characters surviving, along with Caleb returning to human form, however, if he's trapped in the freezer, he'll succumb to the freezing temperatures before he's found.

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 10) Car Crash is AvoidedIn order to prevent the car from crashing, you'll need to succeed all QTEs while Silas is attacking the car, and opting to Take the Wheel when prompted.
(Chapter 10) Ryan Offers Laura the Vial of BloodBefore heading off into the woods in search of Silas, Ryan will inform Laura that he has a single vial of blood that can be used to mask their scent. With only enough for one person, Ryan offers this Laura. Here you have the option to either accept the vial or refuse it.

The decision is up to you, as there are multiple variations of the 'good' ending that sees Laura, Ryan, and Travis surviving, or a sole character, all depending on who has the immunity of the werewolf blood and the decisions that you make. Ultimately there are three main variations to the Silas ending.

(Chapter 10) Laura Kills SilasUpon arriving at the Freakshow, Laura, Travis, and Ryan will find Silas hiding in his nest. When nearing the nest, have Laura raise the gun and shoot Silas, ending the curse for good.

White Wolf Ending: Laura Hesitates and Kills Travis and Silas - The Curse is Lifted

As a consequence of this ending, if Caleb is trapped in the freezer during Chapter 10, he will transform back to human form and will later succumb to the freezing temperatures before he is found.

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 10) Car Crash is AvoidedIn order to prevent the car from crashing, you'll need to succeed all QTEs while Silas is attacking the car, as well as opting to Take the Wheel when prompted.
(Chapter 10) Ryan Offers Laura the Vial of BloodBefore heading off into the woods in search of Silas, Ryan will inform Laura that he has a single vial of blood that can be used to mask their scent. (Chapter 10) Laura Hesitates and Kills SilasUpon arriving at the Freakshow, Laura, Travis, and Ryan will find Silas hiding in his nest. When nearing the nest, have Laura refuse to raise her gun. Ryan will question Laura's decision, and Travis will lose his cool, pushing forward and attempting to grab the gun from her hands. If you fail the QTE, Travis and Laura will wrestle over the weapon and Laura will shoot him. Following Travis' death, Laura will have the option to kill Silas, resulting in both Ryan and Laura surviving.

Laura Refuses to Kill Silas - The Curse Remains

As a result of this ending, should Caleb be trapped in the freezer during Chapter 10, he'll survive the night after returning to human form. It is revealed in the character summary that his werewolf powers managed to keep him alive during the freezing temperatures.

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 10) Car Crash is AvoidedIn order to prevent the car from crashing, you'll need to succeed all QTEs while Silas is attacking the car, as well as opting to Take the Wheel when prompted.
(Chapter 10) Ryan Offers Laura the Vial of BloodBefore heading off into the woods in search of Silas, Ryan will inform Laura that he actually has a single vial of blood that can be used to mask their scent.

Ryan will question Laura's decision and Travis will lose his cool, pushing forward and attempting to grab the gun from her hands. If you succeed at the QTE, Travis will fall to the ground and you'll have the option to either end his life or Silas'.

If you choose to end Travis' life, Ryan (or Laura if she's not blooded) will also be sacrificed as Silas lashes out and attacks both characters. Due to Laura's (or Ryan's) immunity, they'll be the lone survivor. As a result of Laura's actions, Silas will be free, and the curse will remain.

Should neither character be blooded, and they will both succumb to Silas.

White Wolf Ending: Laura Kills Silas and Dies to the Car Crash - The Curse is Lifted

Despite surviving the accident and willing just enough strength to kill Silas and lift the curse, Laura will eventually succumb to her injuries.

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 10) Silas Causes the Car to Crash For the car to crash, let Laura hit her head on the window by failing the QTE. Upon waking up, opt to grab the gun, despite Travis' warning. When Silas breaks through the roof, fail the QTE that has Silas swiping at Travis' head -- this will cause Travis to die and the car will lose control.
(Chapter 10) Silas is KilledSurviving the car crash, Laura will crawl out of the crashed vehicle and will be prompted with a QTE to pick up the nearby shotgun. Succeed the following two QTEs and Silas will be shot dead.

Nobody Survives the Car Crash and Silas Lives - The Curse Remains

Laura fails to kill Silas following the accident, which results in her death and the curse remaining active.

All the Hacketts Die - The Curse Remains

This variation relies on you taking the advice of Elisa (the fortune teller) and helping her dispatch the Hacketts to save her son, Silas. You can ensure you get this ending by making a few key decisions in Chapter 9, with Laura and Ryan's investigation of the Hackett's manor opening up the opportunity to off the whole family.

There are a few ways to set up the massacre, but here are the most critical choices that ensure each of the family members bite the dust by the end of the night:

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 9) Laura Shoots Constance in The StruggleWhen Constance tries to grab the shotgun, win the QTE fight to grab the shotgun. Laura will accidentally shoot her in the face, instantly killing her.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Leaves the Knife In After Being StabbedRyan won't remove the knife and can later use this to wound Bobby, weakening him
(Chapter 9) Laura Attacks JedThis one isn't essential as he'll die in the fight with Chris anyway, but when you are confronted by Jed, Laura can execute him by attacking him. That knocks off another Hackett
(Chapter 9) Ryan Stabs BobbyWhen Ryan runs into Bobby, if the knife is still lodged into his side, he'll have the option to stab him. It'll weaken Bobby and cause him to flee.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Refuses to be BittenWhen Ryan's offered the option of becoming infected to heal his wound, refuse. This will cement Ryan's fate and prevent the game from setting up the Silas ending.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Shoots ChrisAfter dropping through the floor with werewolf Chris, Bobby will be killed as the stab wound's left him weak. Ryan will then get the opportunity to shoot werewolf Chris, killing him instantly.
(Chapter 9) Shoot TravisAfter all the Hacketts but Travis are dead, Ryan will die of blood loss, dropping his shotgun to the ground. Travis and Laura will wrestle over the shotgun. Win the QTE and shoot him, killing him.

If you follow that order of choices, Laura will flee to the island to find Max, meanwhile all the Hacketts bar Caleb are dead. When you cut to Elisa, she'll thank you for your work, noting that she knew she could rely on you to wipe out the family. We'll then have one more Hackett to kill to conclude this ending.

During Kaitlyn's showdown with Caleb in the lodge, we'll have to survive the chase and kill him. With Silas out of the picture, there’s only one way we can take the beast down for good: We’ll have to shoot him using the silver shells Abi finds in Chapter 9.

If you're opting for the shells (and picked them up by the fuse box in Chapter 9), make sure to investigate the noise instead of going to the kitchen at the end of the Kaitlyn werewolf showdown in Chapter 10. Abi and Emma will roll her the shells and she can then gun down Caleb in a combat QTE, killing him instantly.

If you were successful, you'll get one final interaction with Elisa where she'll thank you, and then you'll cut to the epilogue.

Laura's Captured By Travis - The Curse Remains

To get this ending, we'll need to mostly stick to the same route as the 'Hacketts are all killed' finale. The difference is that we're not going to shoot Travis when he struggles with Laura for the shotgun. Instead, this ending will result in Laura being captured, Travis surviving and the mystery remaining unresolved.

To get this ending you'll need to follow the steps listed below:

(Chapter 9) Ryan Stabs BobbyWhen Ryan runs into Bobby, he'll have the option to stab him if the knife is still lodged into his side.
(Chapter 9) Don't Shoot TravisAfter all the Hacketts but Travis are dead, Ryan will die of blood loss, dropping his shotgun to the ground. Travis and Laura will wrestle over the shotgun. Lose the QTE and Travis will take Laura hostage, putting her in a cell and concluding the Hacketts storyline.

After finishing Kaitlyn's showdown with the werewolf, we'll see Laura still trapped in the cage during the epilogue.

Should've Gone to the Motel: Max and Laura are Reunited - The Curse Remains

To receive the Should've Gone to the Motel achievement, you'll need to make some particular choices in Chapter 9 and ultimately sacrifice one of the main counselors, Ryan.

To get this ending, you'll need to follow the steps listed below:

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 9) Ryan Leaves the Knife In After Being StabbedRyan won't remove the knife and can later use this to wound Bobby, weakening him.
(Chapter 9) Don't Shoot TravisAfter all the Hacketts but Travis are dead, Ryan will die of blood loss, dropping his shotgun to the ground. Travis threatens Laura, stating he can't let her leave. Spotting the shotgun on the ground, Laura and Travis will begin to wrestle over the weapon. Pass the QTE and Laura will succeed in grabbing the shotgun first. When raising the gun to Travis, shoot him.

advertisem*nt

With Travis now dead, Laura will escape the house and proceed to grab one of Constance's dresses from the clotheslines. Then, cutting to Max, make your way along the path as you head back towards the dock.

When nearing the dock, a cutscene will occur, and Max and Laura will be reunited. Since Ryan killed Chris, both Laura and Max's infection will be cured, ending their story for this particular playthrough.

Mutually Assured: Travis and Laura Kill Each Other - The Curse Remains

After falling through the floor and choosing not to shoot Chris, Ryan will be killed. In turn, this will prevent Laura from returning to human form. With Laura remaining a werewolf, Travis and her will continue to wrestle until Laura manages to fatally wound Travis by attacking his neck. Then, in a last-ditch effort to get revenge, Travis will stab Laura to death with a shard of the broken silver-back mirror before succumbing to his injuries.

To get this ending and to unlock the Mutually Assured achievement, you'll need to follow the steps listed below:

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 9) Ryan Leaves the Knife In After Being StabbedRyan won't remove the knife and can later use this to wound Bobby, weakening him.
(Chapter 9) Ryan Refuses to be BittenWhen Ryan's offered the option of becoming infected to heal his wound, refuse. This will cement Ryan's fate and prevent the game from setting up the Silas ending.

Nobody's Fool: Emma and Jacob's Secret Scene in Hackett Woods

In order to achieve the Nobody's Fool achievement, you will need to ensure that several very specific choices and decisions are made all throughout the game. In this relatively secret scene between Emma and Jacob in the woods, Jacob will reveal that he is responsible for breaking the van and causing the counselors to stay an additional night. As you can imagine, Emma doesn't take this news well and will ultimately tell him that he'll need to live with this decision for the rest of his life -- if they happen to make it to dawn.

Here are the key choices and decisions needed to achieve the Emma and Jacob's Nobody's Fool ending:

advertisem*nt

Chapter 4: The Island Treehouse - Emma

Firstly, we'll need to get Emma infected; however, with two potential bite scenes, it is only possible for the final scene to play out should Emma be bitten by Max on the Island in Chapter 4. So, here's a complete walkthrough on getting Emma infected in Chapter 4.

Playing as Emma on The Island inChapter 4, make your way to the treehouse. Once inside, choose toSearch the Bagon the ground to find some new clothes, a taser, and bear spray. Having searched the bag, Emma will open the trapdoor, which will see her having to defend herself from the werewolf. Here, you'll want to use thetaser, followed bysnapping a photofor your evidence collection.

After snapping a photo of the attack, succeedall of the following QTEs and opt to use theBear Sprayto buy yourself some extra time. Continuesucceedingthe QTEs until Emma returns to the treehouse. She'll have two options, but you'll want to selectblock door.

After blocking the door, the werewolf will climb through the nearby open window. Following a short cutscene, opt to use thetrapdoorto escape. Following your choice to use the trapdoor, succeed the QTEdown as Emma turns to head for the ladder and thenfail the QTEdown as she attempts to further block the path by pushing over the cabinet, which will see the werewolf grabbing ahold of her arm.Succeed the next QTEand Emma will taser the werewolf while attempting to climb the ladder.

Next, fail the smash QTEas Emma attempts to climb the ladder to the top floor of the treehouse, which will see her leg getting bitten. Now, to survive the scene, succeedthe next QTE, and she'll make it safely to the next floor.

Chapter 6: Hackett Woods - Jacob

Next, we'll need to ensure that Jacob does not get bitten, which can be further prevented by making a particular choice in Chapter 3 when interacting with Bobby.

In Chapter 3, Jacob will back up into a tripwire, causing a noose to wrap around his leg, suspending him in the air. After mashing the following QTE event, Jacob will eventually come face-to-face with one of the hunters. No matter which option you select, Threatening or Pleading, you'll receive an interruption that follows.

advertisem*nt

The next decision is crucial as it can affect whether Jacob becomes infected. For this interruption, be sure not to throw dirt in the hunter's face. By not throwing dirt, Bobby will blood Jacob, giving him 'immunity' as his scent will be masked from the werewolves.

Now, once Jacob has reunited with Emma (she'll need to survive Chapter 4 on The Island) in Chapter 6, you'll soon encounter a werewolf chase scene. To ensure that Jacob does not become infected, you'll need to ensure that all following QTEs are succeeded.

For Jacob to make it through this chapter alive, choose to run when prompted, followed by succeeding the remaining QTEs. Finally, upon stepping into the bear trap, pry it open and watch as the hunters capture Jacob.

Chapter 8: Lodge Parking Lot - Kaitlyn

Now that Emma and Jacob are both infected, it's crucial to ensure they survive until the end of the game, which isn't easy. However, with several ways for each character to die, the following two steps are arguably the easiest way to have them die -- so here's how to survive each scene.

When attempting to open the van in Chapter 6, Dylan, Kaitlyn, and Abi will encounter Emma in werewolf form. Needing to react quick, have Kaitlyn shoot Emma -- saving Abi as a result. Once Abi is safe, shoot Emma again. Returning for one final round, Abi will return, tossing Kaitlyn some Silver Bullets. Here, she'll have the option of using Silver Bullets or Regular Bullets on Emma.

For Emma to survive, Kaitlyn will need to shoot Emma with Regular Bullets, which will see her running off into the woods.

Chapter 8: Hackett Basem*nt - Ryan

When finding Jacob trapped in the cell beneath the Hackett House, Ryan must agree to help free Jacob. To do so, he'll need to solve the Breaker puzzle. Here's a quick solution for solving the puzzle and freeing Jacob:

  • Select Breaker One and Two, then Continue.
  • Select Breaker Two and Three

See our complete Chapter 8 Walkthrough to learn more about this particular scene.

Chapter 9: Hackett House - Ryan

During the showdown at the Hackett House, which sees Chris, Laura, and Ryan falling through the old Attic floorboards, you must have Ryan shoot and kill werewolf Chris as this will break his curse lineage, curing Emma and allowing her to find Jacob in the woods during Chapter 10.

Chapter 10: Hackett Woods - Jacob

With Jacob freed from the Hackett House cell and Emma returning to human form, the former couple will find themselves together again in Hackett Woods. Following a cutscene, Emma encourages Jacob to share his feelings.

To unlock the Nobody's Fool achievement, Jacob must share the truth about the breaking van, ultimately forcing the counselors to spend one last night at the camp. To do this, select the following options: Honest, Remorseful, and Apologetic.

Emma and Jacob's Secret Hackett Woods Scene Variations

Now, two alternate variations of the secret scene can occur between Emma and Jacob in the woods during Chapter 10. One variation involves Emma surviving Jacob's transformation into a werewolf thanks to picking up an easily missed item in Chapter 1, while the other sees Jacob killing Emma after his transformation. Here are all the critical decisions and choices needed to get this particular variation of the Nobody's Fool scene that plays out in Chapter 10.

Chapter 1: Lodge Parking Lot - Jacob

First, for this variation to occur, you'll need to pick up Emma's bracelet that can be found on the ground by the main gate in the Lodge Parking Lot. Once Jacob picks up the bracelet, he'll proceed to wear it for the remainder of the game - if the bracelet is not picked up, Emma will be killed during their encounter in Chapter 10.

Chapter 4: The Island Treehouse - Emma

Next, we'll need to get Emma infected; however, with two potential bite scenes, it is only possible for the final scene to play out should Emma be bitten by Max on the Island in Chapter 4. So, here's a complete walkthrough on getting Emma infected in Chapter 4.

Chapter 6: Hackett Woods - Jacob

To have Jacob bitten, you'll need to complete a few pre-requisites in the game's early chapters.

The next decision is crucial as it will affect whether Jacob becomes infected. For this interruption, be sure to throw dirt in the hunter's face. As a result, Jacob will not only scramble free but also avoid being blooded, a critical factor that will play a part in him becoming infected during Chapter 6.

Now, once Jacob has reunited with Emma (she'll need to survive Chapter 4 on The Island) in Chapter 6, you'll soon encounter a werewolf. To ensure that Jacob becomes infected, you'll need to fail the first QTE on the wooden walking bridge. Upon failing, the werewolf will tackle Jacob to the ground, taking a big ol' bite out of his neck.

Surviving the ordeal, thanks to Emma, watch as another cutscene takes place. For Jacob to make it through this chapter alive, choose to run when prompted, followed by succeeding in the interruption.

Chapter 9: Hackett House - Ryan

During the showdown at the Hackett House, which sees Chris, Laura, and Ryan falling through the old Attic floorboards, you must have Ryan shoot and kill werewolf Chris as this will break his curse lineage, curing Emma and allowing her to find Jacob in the woods during Chapter 10.

Chapter 10: Hackett Woods - Emma

With Jacob freed from the Hackett House cell and Emma returning to human form, the former couple will find themselves together again in Hackett Woods. However, following a cutscene, it's revealed that Jacob is unstable, with the infection almost taking over as he begins to lose control of his temper.

As he's getting ready to transform, he'll toss Emma's Silver Bracelet to the ground as it'll begin to burn his wrist. Then, picking up the bracelet, Emma will receive immunity as the presence of silver will overwhelm Jacob, causing him to flee the area -- saving Emma's life.

Now, should Jacob have not picked up Emma's Silver Bracelet during Chapter 1, Emma will be vulnerable to his attack. As a result, Jacob will kill Emma when transforming into his werewolf form.

Kaitlyn, Dylan, and Caleb Survive the Lodge - The Curse is Lifted

Kaitlyn and Dylan will have one final showdown with werewolf Caleb when exploring the Lodge in Chapter 10. While there are many ways for this encounter to play out, there's one relatively simple way to ensure that all three characters survive the night and ultimately lift the curse, should Laura and Travis team up in Chapter 9.

In order for this particular sequence to take place, it's important that Kaitlyn becomes infected in the Scrapyard when trying to escape the werewolf - see our guide to infecting Kaitlyn here.

Now that Kaitlyn is infected and werewolf Caleb has entered the Lodge in Chapter 10, here are the key choices you'll need to make to ensure that everyone survives the encounter:

ChoiceOutcome
(Chapter 10) RunPlaying as Kaitlyn, select run when first encounter Caleb as he climbs to stairs to the second floor of the Lodge.
(Chapter 10) ShootBefore Kaitlyn and Dylan have the chance to run away from Caleb, be sure to shoot at werewolf Caleb. This will knock Caleb back, giving the pair a chance to run away safely.
(Chapter 10) WindowWhen reaching the third floor of the Lodge, have Kaitlyn escape through the window.

When Kaitlyn climbs through the window to escape, it's crucial that you fail the QTE, which will then see Kaitlyn and Caleb toppling down onto the roof below. Just when it appears to be safe, Caleb will reappear on the roof and will swipe at Kaitlyn, causing a large gash to begin bleeding.

Due to her infection and the newly opened cut, Caleb will stop attacking Kaitlyn and eventually run off into the woods, where he'll see out the rest of the night. Should you have made the correct choices in Chapter 9, all characters, with the exception of Kaylee and Chris, will survive the night and the curse will be broken upon Laura killing Silas.

Chris Survives the Night - The Curse Remains

Now, there is one way to ensure that Chris Hackett survives the night, however, this method will result in Ryan, Travis, and Laura being killed. This ending isn't particularly ideal as it'll lock you out of the White Wolf ending that sees the curse being lifted, so we suggest you only select this ending in an alternate playthrough.

With that said, here are the key choices and decisions you'll need to occur in order for Chris Hackett to survive:

  • Chapter 8:
    • Ryan must agree to help free Jacob from his cell beneath the Hackett House. Jacob will need to survive, so be sure to check out our guide for solving the breaker puzzle to avoid any potential deaths.
  • Chapter 9:
    • Ryan must refuse Laura's offer to bite him. No matter the outcome of the final showdown, Ryan will be killed.
    • When controlling Ryan in the final showdown with werewolf Chris, opt to not shoot Chris - this can be done by letting the timed interruption run out.
  • Chapter 10:
    • Playing as Jacob in Chapter 10, be sure to hide when prompted to avoid being seen by werewolf Chris, who happens to be stalking him from the woods. After hiding, succeed the breathing QTE that follows.
    • Making a break for it, Chris will spot Jacob and begin to chase him. Succeed the QTE and werewolf Chris will be caught in one of the traps laid by the hunters. With no way to escape, Chris will eventually return to his human form at dawn.
